Job Description
Employer: multinational IT company with expertise in the field of applications development and diverse technology integration
Vacant Role: Senior Test Engineer for a project starting 01.02 (duration of 11 months (very possible to get extended). About the Client & project:
the product is a network management system, it’s the configuration and monitoring platform used by satellite operators to manage a network of satellites and terminals across the world. It’s multi-node cluster solution designed for high-scale requirements and high availability. It’s built on top of a custom Linux operating system (starting from a base RHEL distribution) and it’s using the following technologies for different aspects of it: C++ for the backend, node.js for the REST API, a custom form-engine using AngularJS for the WebUI, a Postgresql implementation for the database, as well as Kafka and TimescaleDB.
Requirements
Profile / Level of experience
- 20+ years in Software Development/Continuous deployment settings;
- 10+ years in Engineering;
- 10 years’ experience architecting test automation;
- Must know debugging, reverse engineer, and re architecting existing Jenkins build jobs
Role / Responsibilities
- Test Engineering: to identify and prioritize top-priority areas for remediation and enhancement. Currently some of those areas have been identified to potentially include, but are not limited to:
– Vulnerability Remediation Planning: perform an in-depth review of vulnerabilities identified by Coverity, Black Duck, SonarQube and Aqua. In collaboration with Project Sponsor, prioritize vulnerabilities based on severity, impact, and exploitability. Develop a remediation roadmap aligned with client’s business priorities and release schedule.
– Engineering Support for Vulnerability Remediation: provide dedicated engineering resources skilled in DevSecOps and AppSecDev to implement remediation strategies, and ensure integration of fixes occur without disrupting ongoing development.
– Secure Development Lifecycle (SDLC) Enhancements: integrate security best practices into client’s SDLC to prevent future vulnerabilities. Implement automated testing and scanning as part of CI/CD pipelines for proactive vulnerability detection.
– Test Automation: ensure that testing is fully integrated into CI/CD pipelines, providing constant feedback on quality, enabling quicker fixes and enhancing the quality of the product.
– Progress Reporting and Metrics: Establish clear metrics to measure remediation progress, such as number of vulnerabilities resolved, and risk reduction levels. Deliver automated reporting to track testing performance, coverage, and provide actionable insights into code quality and test effectiveness (e.g. resolution rate, defect rate). Deliver regular progress reports to stakeholders, including summaries of remediated vulnerabilities and outstanding risks.
– Security tooling: Blackduck, Coverity, Sonarqube, Aqua Security.
